Gi (Suit)
A Gi is the traditional outfit used to train martial arts in such as Judo and Karate.
These are not needed for our STRIKE classes.
To start you do not need one to train with us.
At the Warriors we like to have Blue Gis for Judo, and a white Gi must be used for Karate.
Suits come in every 10cm sizings.
For our Judo classes you can either wear a traditional Judo suit (which you can get from Blitz) or a Jiu Jitsu suit (which you can get from Progress.)
The only difference is the look.
The Blitz Judo suits look like a regular fit, whereas the Progress Jiu Jitsu ones are a more tailored fit;
personally I prefer the latter.
Be aware, to me a suit is a suit, whereas other clubs may prefer you to where a specific type of suit but if your primary club will be the Warriors then either is fine.
I just like the Judo group to wear Blue and the Karate in White please.
There are many suits available and the price tends to vary due to quality but also the weight of the suit.
I would recommend nothing lighter than 350g for a kids Judo style suit and 500g for an adults.
For Karate, I wouldn’t go below a 7oz suit for kids or adults, the heavier the karate suit the thicker and stiffer it will feel.
